This comes from the patheos blog Peculiar People and the article is titled: Mormonism and the Christianity Police by Taylor Petrey.
Petrey begins with the reality that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is continually criticized and the members informed that they are not Christians:
If one were to rank the issues about which the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is most sensitive, near the very top of the list would be the persistent accusation that Mormons are somehow not Christians.
And this is the premise of his article where there is an ongoing and consistent effort to deny the Mormon faith, and those who faithfully follow the teachings, as not being a Christian based faith. This is because of the idea of a narrow defined supposition that being a Christian is based upon prescribed doctrinal beliefs, dogma’s and a proper interpretation of scripture. Being a Christian is far from accepting certain doctrinal suppositions – it is founded upon following Jesus Christ and living a life that exemplifies the nature in which Christ not only taught, but lived. This includes being compassionate, forgiving, merciful, and possessing a humble and meek mindset.
